Gender Differences in Honesty: Groups versus Individuals
Economics Letters 128, 25–29
In short
An experiment that compares the honesty of groups and individuals, and of men and women.
What we find
- Participants report a die roll that only they have seen, and the report decides their pay; the design follows Fischbacher and Föllmi-Heusi (2013).
- Deciding alone, men and women lie about equally.
- Deciding in pairs, gender matters strongly: male and mixed pairs lie more than female pairs.
