PhD thesis, University of Hamburg
In short

The four essays
- Honesty: deciding alone, men and women lie about equally; deciding in pairs, male and mixed pairs lie more than female pairs (Economics Letters, 2015).
- Managers: teams with a manager from the top of the ability distribution win considerably more points than teams with one from the bottom (Journal of Sports Economics, 2018).
- Feedback: men perform better when compared with the best peer, women when compared with the average (Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, 2021).
- Whistleblowing: protection can deter wrongdoing, but when it makes reports more likely it can harm cooperation between managers and employees (Review of Law & Economics, 2025).
